Cultural center in Santo Domingo, Colombia

The edge in the mountain town consists of an intricate network of trails product of displacement and topography in a waste of green space as a result of their inability to build on it, this network operates as a small meeting places. This cultural center in Santo Domingo, Colombia, is the real future of post-apocalyptic architecture to look like. Architect Giancarlo Mazzanti dispenses with the obtrusive and predictable rearrangements of glass, steal and concrete phallic references with this organically inspired beacon of grounded, yet ethereal modernity.

The project raises the construction of a series of three volumes that pose a cliff, ARTIFICIAL ROCKS, thus relate to the geography, the way the building has to do with the grades rocks in the mountaintops, rocks are illuminated to create an image that serves as a symbol of the city and enhance urban development and public activity in the area.

This design invites everyone closer without the subconscious feeling you are merely a visitor in someone else’s domain. Inside reflects all the stark minimalist ideas we come to expect from most modern art/cultural showcases, with sharp angles and the inoffensive use of white paint and pale woods.
