Waimana Chapel by Wilson & Hill Architects

A Chapel set in an open rural park like setting that the people from North Canterbury could relate to and feel comfortable in a time of grief has been requested by Lamb & Hayward to Wilson & Hill Architects.

The building contains a large chapel to seat 200, a small chapel to seat 30 and lounge with serving kitchen to cater for functions on site following a service. Offices, staff room, garaging for hearses, a small mortuary and other service type rooms are also included.

The three types of precast concrete panels used, polished panels, natural concrete’ banded panels with grit blasted finish and painted panels form a hierarchy within the building and evoke the feelings of quality and permanence that Lamb & Hayward represent.

IAG Centre by Wilson & Hill Architects

Explore some examples of Wilson & Hill Architects recent commercial architecture projects. Hewlett Packard Building and Show Place have won New Zealand Architecture awards. Here is the IAG Centre Building.

This development consists of two, virtually identical (mirror image), three-storey office buildings and a smaller two-storey building which accommodates a restaurant and gymnasium. The buildings have been sited to maximise their exposure to the road, and to create a small ‘campus’ within the site they occupy. The extensive landscaping, which includes a water feature, around its visitor car parks create a truly ‘park like’ setting.

The buildings have numerous features of “sustainability”, (solar hot water heating, VRV air conditioning, double glazing, solar shading etc.) many of the features are designed to minimise the use of electrical energy.

Hewlett Packard Building | Wilson and Hill Architects

Wilson and Hill Architects work closely together to ensure the best results are achieved through the synthesis of concept, beauty and functional integration. They are currently undertaking a large range of residential architecture work for private clients and commercial architecture projects such on this Hewlett Packard Building.

This high quality building has been designed to project the character and brand of Hewlett Packard and to sit within the context of the Show Place Office Park. The objective of the design was to achieve large rectangular floor plates providing the highest possible special efficiency. The interior fitout uses a limited palette of materials to create a modern uncluttered interior.
